During the meeting of the Extraordinary Electoral Assembly of the National Federation, the decision was made.

At today’s Extraordinary Electoral Assembly in Belgrade, former First Vice-President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia Gyula Mester was unanimously elected to the position of President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia. This election took place at the Volleyball Federation of Serbia.

Mester is widely considered to be among the all-time greats among Serbian volleyball players

Throughout the course of his illustrious career, he was a member of the national team and won a total of 12 medals, including gold, bronze, and silver at the Olympic Games (in both 2000 and 1996) and silver at the World Championship (1998). He played professionally for clubs in Italy and Greece in addition to his home country of Serbia.

In 2016, he won the election to serve as Vice President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, and two years later, in 2019, he was promoted to the position of First Vice President of the organization.

Zoran Gaji, who was once the President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia and is now the Minister of Sports for the Republic of Serbia, gave a warm welcome to the members of the Assembly at the commencement of the session.

Delegates also unanimously agreed to accept Gyula Mester’s recommendation that Ivan Kneevi should remain in his function as Secretary General, that Jelena Nikoli should take on the job of First Vice-President, and that Petar Bogunovi and Vesna itakovi-Djurii should take on the duty of Vice-Presidents.

In accordance with the statutes of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, Mester put forward candidates for membership on the Supervisory Board for the upcoming term. Dragan Tadi was chosen as President, Stefan Ukovic and Novak Savanovi were chosen as members of the Supervisory Board, and the delegates reached a conclusion that was unanimous.

Mester, along with the other members of the Presidency and Supervisory Board of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, were all elected for terms of five years each and will remain in their positions until 2028.
